Responsibilities : Eastern Illinois University seeks a high-energy professional for the position of Director of Development. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Advancement, the selected will be responsible for prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship with emphasis on securing donors with gift potential in the twenty thousand $20,000 and greater dollar range. The Director of Philanthropy will be responsible for the leadership and management of alumni and friends of the College of Arts & Humanities, in particular the Fine Arts divisions of Art, Music, and Theatre Arts. The Director will be responsible for leadership and management of specific college initiatives in major gift prospect portfolio of one hundred fifty individuals. Additional responsibilities may include fundraising for university-wide priorities as determined by the President or Vice President of University Advancement.
QUALIFICATIONS : The preferred candidate will have a minimum of Bachelor’s Degree, a significant history of progressively successful experience in fundraising, and shall exhibit strong leadership characteristics including:
- Record of success in fund-raising initiatives;
- Commitment to cultural diversity and educational equity;
- Excellent communication and problem solving skills;
- Ability to work with potential donors and alumni, as well as students, faculty, staff, administrators, community members, and others throughout the nation in friend-raising and fund-raising activities;
- Knowledge of current issues and trends in the philanthropic arena.
STARTING DATE : August 15, 2013
SALARY RANGE : Competitive and commensurate with qualifications
CONTRACT YEAR : Twelve months
