The Director of Development for Renewable Energy Systems Americas, Inc. (RES Americas) will be responsible for day-to-day aspects of project development from site prospecting through commencement of construction. The focus of this position will be to help screen, identify, secure and develop profitable site opportunities to meet RES development goals as well as manage an existing portfolio of wind and soar development assets. The position is based in RES America's Broomfield Colorado headquarters and reports to the Senior Vice President of Development. As new technologies appear in the market, the candidate must be able to quickly recognize and quantify their application and value. The candidate will have the ability to think strategically and will be driven to produce results without losing the ability to function effectively in a matrixed team organization.

Responsibilities :

  • Responsible for site identification by working with wind resource and transmission teams to apply fundamental site criteria (land ownership, wind resource, access to existing transmission lines, constructability, etc.).
  • Work closely with energy resource engineers to identify optimum project sites and develop land acquisition strategies.
  • Work closely with legal counsel and senior members of the development team to draft land-rights documents.
  • Represent Company in community settings and in front of large landowner groups.
  • Manage land acquisition consultants and other temporary contractors.
  • Participate in environmental and permitting work.
  • Participate in transmission/interconnection process.
  • Identify business opportunities and help form relationships with key utilities and other potential clients within a region.
  • Work with landowners and energy resource engineers to get "met mast's" permitted and installed.
  • Work with finance team to assess viability of emerging opportunities.
  • Manage all aspects of the land-rights acquisition process.
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with and ability to stay current regarding changing regulatory requirements.
  • Understanding of contract terms and ability to recognize discrepancies.
  • Responsible to ensure SAFETY requirements are met.
  • Must be able to work professionally with clients, vendors, employees, managers and supervisors.
  • Stay current with professional and industrial best practices.
  • Requirements:

  • Five-Plus (5+) years of experience in renewable energy project development including direct personal involvement in the closing of a financing or sale of one or more projects.
  • Experience in sale of power and structuring of power sale transactions.
  • Strategic minded with the ability to share their vision with others.
  • Able to successfully manage the full-spectrum of core responsibilities independently or with limited over-sight, and consistently solves complex problems to move the development process forward at any given stage (land acquisition-financial closing).
  • Needs expertise and the necessary skills to interface with the Client and will be instrumental in delivering on time cost effective projects.
  • Ability to travel domestically and occasionally internationally
  • Must have a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
  • Skilled in MSOffice (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
