The incumbent in this position should be a Registered Nurse with current licensure in the State of Texas and a minimum of two years of supervisory experience. Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) certification is preferred. Clinical experience in Emergency Nursing and knowledge of Emergency Medical Services, including pre-hospital care and Trauma, is also preferred. This position is responsible for the successful operation of assigned functions and for integrating activities with other major organizational units. Establishes objectives, develops and implements plans to achieve corporate goals. Determines the organizational structure and directs staff to carry out plans. Measures results and takes appropriate corrective actions to ensure achievement of objectives. Develops, proposes and implements group policies.

Qualifications
Education: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with current licensure or application for licensure (with temporary permit) in the State of Texas. BCLS certification and ACLS certification required within 6 months of hire.
Experience: Previous experience in acute critical care hospital setting preferred. Requirements will include successful completion of orientation checklist, pharmacology exam, and skills / credentials / competency requirements of specific unit.
Skills: Requires ability to function in stressful situations. Verbal ability to present information and ideas related to nursing theory and practice. Ability to accept responsibility and accountability to prescribe, delegate, and coordinate nursing care provided on assigned units as required with leadership qualities. The position requires the cognitive ability and practical ability to provide nursing care appropriate to the patient population assigned, considering client age and diagnosis with full implementation of the nursing process to include Assessment / Reassessment, Nursing Diagnosis, Planning, Implementation, and Evaluation. EKG interpretation and advanced monitoring skills required.
