The Director Engineering and Fleet Management has responsibility for technical engineering services, fleet reliability, aircraft maintenance program management, new aircraft inductions and assisting with aircraft and engine contract administration. The position leads and provides oversight of the engineering staff, external engineering resources and ensures real time engineering support to line and heavy maintenance teams.
This position requires a combination of technical and strategic manager with a high degree of commercial aviation airframe and powerplant experience in each of the engineering functions. The person in this position must be able to set and implement department goals and objectives for the management of a range of complex departmental or company responsibilities and overall functions in which several projects and programs may be in progress with simultaneous, multiple resource involvement. Develops solutions to organizational and operational problems; responsible for organizational management (development, staffing, and conflict); and allocating resources.
The Director Engineering & Fleet Management is responsible for ensuring the company is in compliance with the aircraft configuration requirements as it pertains to each aircraft. In addition, this position must be capable of evaluating, evolving and optimizing the fleet maintenance program.
Manages all aspects of technical procedures pertaining to aircraft airframe, engine and systems; develops and/or establishes standards, procedures, systems, and/or guidelines for Technical Services and/or functional areas, subordinate managers, supervisors and/or staff.
Other duties include, assisting with the establishment of maintenance, quality and engineering standards and operational framework by adopting policies and procedures for the assigned operational and/or functional areas.
Lead the development of technical information required to develop contracts and leases.
Perform technical reviews of contracts and lease documentation.
Lead large scale multi departmental projects using project tracking software and project projection methods.
Manage engineering departments budgetary and operational objectives and holds budgetary responsibility (P&L and Capex) for: maintenance reserve, powerplant Maintenance cost, powerplant department cost, engineering modification cost, and engineering department cost.
Oversee project management of engine planning & maintenance shop selection, PBH contract administration, and all other powerplant related functions

Experience working with aircraft leasing companies, airline or consulting firm with particular emphasis on: engineering, powerplant management, aircraft technical fleet planning including aircraft transition project management.
Strong leadership and presentation skills
10 years experience managing technical and or engineering staff
15 years of commercial air carrier technical engineering experience preferred
Must possess strong quantitative analytical skills and in-depth knowledge of aircraft maintenance and engineering
Must have the ability to work well under pressure of tight deadlines
BA/BS degree in technical engineering discipline required.
