Responsible for leading, motivating and inspiring the software engineering team for a consumer web site. This position manages technical personnel, web site engineering projects and leads the department’s architecture efforts. Ideal candidates will have experience working in a consumer facing web based organization
Manage resources (technical, personnel, time, etc) to achieve quarterly goals and objectives for a consumer facing web site
Administer daily status meetings for different functions managed including front-end and back-end engineering of a consumer facing web site.
Manage the weekly website stability and performance meeting.
Meet weekly with other engineering managers and stakeholders to understand and resolve issues.
Approve and log contractor invoices and employee/contractor timesheets.
Conduct and plan team training regarding tools, techniques, platforms and languages for developing high performance web sites
Assist with and resolve escalated software engineering/architecture issues.
Maintain the software architecture roadmap.
Research and evaluate software tools, techniques, platforms and languages for consumer web sites
Manage engineering and architecture staff with responsibilities including but not limited to: hiring, terminating, training, assigning work, evaluating work, and determining quality and quantity of work.
Possession of an undergraduate degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related degree.
Possession of a graduate degree is a plus.
Minimum of 10 years experience in software engineering and architecture.
Experience working in a consumer web based organization is highly preferred

Skills in web site architecture design and pattern implementation.
Skills in the management of personnel, finances, and other resources.

Ability to be versatile and handle multiple projects and re-prioritizations.
Ability to organize information and have attention to detail and accurately follow procedures.
Ability to maintain self motivation and to work independently and in team environments.
Ability to piece together conclusions and apply rules to produce answers that make sense.
Ability to work with outside vendors and 3rdparty contractors in a professional manner.
Some evenings and overnight work may be occasionally required for deployments and releases. This position is on 24 hour call in the event of a website outage.
This position regularly requires more than 40 hours of work per week.
This position spends a majority of time dedicated to supervisory activities and oversees a team of 35+ employees.
