DESCRIPTION

The Director of Engineering for our IPG Microsystems division based in Manchester, NH manages all aspects of the engineering department to include: Mechanical, Electrical, Software and Hardware Control. This individual coordinates efforts required to effectively develop and implement new products and engineering initiatives that support growth objectives Performs management and administrative related duties required for coordinating technical projects and activities.

DUTIES

  • Directs all aspects of the Engineering Department for IPG Microsystems to meet product development and deliverables on time and on budget.
  • Leads the department efforts to effectively develop and implement new products and programs that support the company's growth objectives to successful conclusion.
  • Drives product development road map through the design of products with the highest level of quality and capability being sold into key markets.
  • Cultivates a work environment of professionalism, learning, teamwork and dedication.
  • Coaches and mentors the members of the engineering department to obtain their best work and gain the knowledge and proficiency necessary to perform their jobs. Is responsible for the productivity of all members of the department
  • P&L responsibilities, directs project management insuring proper coordination of all aspects of engineering projects, programs and budgets.
  • Develops goals and objectives for engineering programs and proposals for product development efforts.
  • Responsible for understanding and communicating customer requirements to ensure that products meet design goals and perform to specifications
  • Responsible for Engineering Department conforming to the company's quality standards and procedures including ISO requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS in Engineering or physics, advanced degree preferred.
  • 10 years of experience in laser and/or motion control system development.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Experience in mentoring and training
  • Successful history of prioritizing projects and managing schedules with accurate and regular reporting to achieve revenue goals.
  • Experience in the management of technical sales and service is a plus
