Job Title: Director of Engineering
Department: Embedded Audio, Indianapolis IN
Reports To: Vice President/General Management
Supervisory Responsibilities: 15-20 direct reports
Develop and drive the Engineering and R&D agenda in close collaboration with top management and peers in all cross functional areas.
Promote collaboration within and strategic global partners to gain access to new technologies, ideas, and capabilities.
Provide technical leadership to a large and growing group of Engineers and Scientists and drive the team to achieve goals and meet deliverables.
Contribute to, and deliver on aggressive product and technology roadmaps and help synchronize with the NPI plans.
Create an environment that fosters innovation, and is very productive in the creation of intellectual property and patents.
Continue to build and maintain at highly capable technical team and ensure that all are well supported by the management structure.
Grow a culture of strong Applications Engineering capability and good Customer Support.
Work within the existing structure to leverage performance management tools and foster good communication among the team.
Work to maintain, contribute to and improve the Product Realization Process, and be a strong advocate for DFM and continuous quality improvement.
The candidate must hold a BS in Engineering. The preferred candidate will hold a M.S. or Ph.D. in Engineering with specialization in Acoustics.
The candidate must have 10+ years experience in the design and development of products for high volume manufacture. The preferred candidate will have experience launching audio product in overseas factories.
The candidate should have 5+ years technical management experience leading an engineering team in the realization of products. The preferred candidate will be a strong people manager and a very good communicator.
The preferred candidate will have significant experience working as part of a cross functional, global development team, including Operations, Quality, Program and Product Management, and Sales.
The preferred candidate will have knowledge and experience commercializing acoustical products and technologies. They will have a broad engineering background, and be familiar with mechanical and electrical design, PCB layout, DSP signal processing, and transducer simulation and design.
The preferred candidate will have a proven ability to create intellectual property, as an individual or as part of a team.
Willingness to travel 20% of the time, including some international travel, Willingness to work in an office in Indianapolis, IN., and Willingness to submit to a background screen and a drug test.
