JOB SUMMARY: Department : Accounting Position : Director of Finance Reports to : Managing Director Scope of Position The Director of Finance is primarily responsible for the accounting and financial control function of the hotel. Requirements Bachelor degree in Business Administration or Accounting. Minimum of eight years of hotel accounting experience at supervisory level and some experience as Director of Finance or Assistant Controller in training. Comprehensive knowledge of hospitality operating systems and software Strong administrative, interpersonal, organizational, written and verbal communication skills Excellent communication skills, both written and oral. Knowledge of hotel accounting and other systems. Responsibilities · Ensure timely and accurate financial accounting and reporting, including effective internal accounting controls. · Provide financial advisory services to operational managers. · Ensure all local, state and federal accounting related legislation is adhered to at all times. · Safeguard all hotel assets and financial resources, ensuring all assets are used to maximize hotel profitability. · Responsible for monitoring, controlling and recording all sales, purchases, salaries, expenses, capital programs and operational statistics. · Prepare a comprehensive monthly report of the financial results for the hotel in established corporate formats and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. · Prepare weekly forecasts and annual operational and capital budgets. Report on variances. · Conduct periodic detailed internal audits. Prepare written comprehensive action plans to correct any deficiencies. · Recruit appropriately skilled accounting employees according to hotel guidelines. · Train employees as necessary and support hotel training programs. · Assist the Managing Director in establishing policies, rules and internal controls that ensure profitability and control of operations. · Interview, hire, resolve problems, provide open communication and recommend discipline and/or termination when appropriate · Responsible for receiving, processing and investigating complaints made per the existing harassment policy.
