Just a few miles from Washington, D.C., The Westin Alexandria is an upscale retreat in Alexandria's exclusive Carlyle area. The hotel is located near historic Old Town, The Patent and Trademark Office, and the Albert V. Bryan Federal Courthouse, and 3 blocks from the King Street Metro Station.

Department

The Housekeeping department oversees the cleanliness of the hotel. This department works very closely with the front office and engineering to ensure the guests of the hotel have a wonderful stay. The Director of Housekeeping oversees the room attendants, housekeeping house attendants, public area attendants and 2 supervisors. This position reports directly to the Director of Operations.

Job Description

The Director of Housekeeping is responsible for leading the long and short term planning as well as the day to day operation of the Housekeeping Department all while maintaining the high standards of service, cleanliness and tranquility of guest suites, public areas and laundry. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, business plan recommendations, expense management, revenue forecasting, selecting and developing staff members, resolving customer issues, and implementing policy. This role reports directly to the Director of Operations and works very closely with the Rooms and Engineering departments to ensure high service standards are met. Additional responsibilities include inventory management, scheduling, payroll, training and coaching.

Requirements

In order to reach one's potential in this position, candidates should have 3 - 5 years of progressive housekeeping experience with a minimum of 1 - 3 years management experience. Candidates should be able to communicate effectively to all guests and associates in English both verbally and in writing, knowledge of additional languages is a plus but is not required; must have strong computer skills, knowledge of Galaxy and Lightspeed PMS systems are a plus; Must have knowledge of wage and hour laws and a keen financial acumen to drive results; should be able to squat, reach, stretch and bend, stand and walk for up to 6 hours in length, lift up to 15 pounds and push and or pull up to 250 pounds with or without accommodation. Schedule flexibility is a must for day and evenings, weekends and holidays. We are looking for someone who wants to evolve and grow within the organization and has the motivation and drive to do so.
