This is an appointed (at-will) leadership position under the administration of a newly elected, four-year term County Mayor. This position will work closely with the Mayor’s Office, County Council members, Employee Associations, Senior County and community leaders to assess organizational needs and develop and implement Human Resources strategic plans to meet those needs.

Salt Lake County is looking for a forward-thinking and innovative person to partner with County leadership as the Director for Human Resources. The Human Resources Director will develop and execute human resources strategies in support of the overall County Mission, specifically in the areas Benefits, EAP, EEO/ADA, Recruitment, Compensation, and the County’s Employees’ University.
A Bachelor's degree, plus six (6) years’ experience in an HR leadership capacity, two (2) of those years in a supervisory role, or an equivalent combination of related education and experience.
A Master’s degree or higher in Public Administration, Business Administration, Human Resources Law, Organizational Development, Communication, or a related field; and a minimum of eight (8) years of experience in an HR leadership role, which includes direct management of HR staff. Professional in Human Resources (PHR) and/or SPHR certification is also preferred.
The Director of Human Resources is responsible for communicating and cultivating Salt Lake County’s culture and values. This position will develop and lead Human Resources initiatives, build internal business partnerships to execute Human Resources specific initiatives, provide coaching and consultation with regards to complex Human Resource issues and drives a collaborative and supportive high performing work environment.
