The College of Saint Rose is a dynamic, comprehensive college of nearly 5,000 students. Located in Albany, New York, the College is an independent, coeducational institution serving traditional students and working professionals in undergraduate and graduate degree and certificate programs.

The Director of Library Services works in close collaboration with library faculty and an administrator to plan, integrate, and promote library resources and services to advance the educational mission of the College. The director has administrative responsibility for the Neil Hellman Library, the Patricia Standish Curriculum Library, and the College Archives. Collections include approximately 220,000 volumes, 560 active print journal subscriptions and 3,000 videos in various formats. We provide our patrons access to approximately 60 online databases and over 90,000 e-books.

This position provides an opportunity to lead the libraries' experienced faculty and staff to ongoing fulfillment of our strategic plan. Opportunities to effectively manage change include implementing rapidly developing technologies, cultivating information literacy across the curriculum, collaborating with staff to devise new work flows, and serving an increasingly diverse student body. Responsibilities

Provide vision and leadership for ongoing development and implementation of the library's strategic and operational plans.

*
Manage library budget of approximately $1.7 million and advocate for new funding as appropriate.

*
Lead and coordinate assessments of library resources and services.

*
Oversees the delivery of and participates in reference service.

*
Lead and coordinate the development and maintenance of the library's online presence.

*
Oversee collection development, including online resources and demand-driven acquisition.

*
Collaborate with the Library Committee to develop the library budget.

*
Oversee the hiring, training, supervision and scheduling of approximately 25 library personnel.

*
Lead and coordinate staff performance appraisals.

*
Serve in the role of dean or department chair as appropriate for faculty librarian promotion and tenure; serve as chair of the library's Probationary Faculty Evaluation Committee.

*
Lead efforts to promote the library and information literacy to students, faculty, and administrators.

*
Collaborate with library faculty and administrators to formulate and administer library policies, rules, and regulations.

*
Serve as primary liaison with library consortia.

*
Serve as the library's primary contact with departments and the College for accreditation-related data gathering and reporting.

*
Provide overall management of library facilities in collaboration with appropriate College offices.

*
Chair Library Committee; serve on Academic & Student Affairs Council and Academic Technology Committee.

Qualifications

*
M.L.S. or M.S.I.S. from an ALA-accredited program (or international equivalent).

*
Proven ability to effectively lead in a collaborative, collegial manner.

*
Minimum of five years management and/or supervisory experience in a library serving higher education.

*
Strong service orientation and proven ability to promote libraries' role in the teaching/learning process, including strong reference skills.

*
Demonstrated experience with strategic planning.

*
Demonstrated successful budgeting and fiscal management.

*
Demonstrated experience with project management and personnel management.

*
Experience with information technologies and automated library systems, and knowledge of emerging standards and practices.

*
Ability to foster a culture of inclusion and to engage effectively across a range of stakeholders, including those at the most senior levels.

*
Experience working with a diverse student body.

*
Direct experience with system migration and implementation of new tools (e.g. link resolver, discovery service, content management system) is desired.

*
Knowledge of standards and practices for digital assets is desired.
