My client is a San
Francisco Bay Area based specialty coffee roaster and
retailer founded in 1966 in Berkeley, CA . The company is known for its early introduction of darker roasted Arabica coffee such as French
roast and grades appropriate for espresso drinks, to Bay Area and US coffee
retailing, for both freshly roasted beans and in-store brewed coffee.
My client’s operated 200 retail locations within
the US as of the first quarter of 2010. Most locations are in California, with
further locations in Washington, Oregon, Colorado, Illinois and Massachusetts.
My client has outlets at many transit centers,
including several airport locations, such as both major Houston airports,
Reno/Tahoe, Kennedy Airport in New York City, Philadelphia International
Airport, and all three major airports in the San
Francisco Bay Area. A number of
franchised company kiosks opened in Bart stations around the Bay Area in early

Position: Director of
Reporting to the Chief Supply Chain Officer,
the Director of Manufacturing Operations is responsible for the overall
leadership and operation of my client’s roasting plant and warehouse facility
in Alameda, California. Specific areas
of responsibility include coffee roasting, packaging, logistics, inventory
management, order fulfillment, shipping, quality control, and maintenance
operations. This role is accountable for the development and achievement of
monthly, annual and long term strategic plans as well as continuous improvement
initiatives related to people/team development, safety, quality, cost, working
capital, waste, and environmental management.
Longer term, the Director may plan and manage the expansion of my client’s
manufacturing footprint in the U.S.

reduce cost and working capital investment, ensure business continuity,
improve quality, and reduce lead times.

Bachelor’s degree required; certification in supply chain
Senior management experience in supply chain management functions
( multiple areas preferred) with at least 7 years in a manufacturing
leadership role with full P&L responsibility.
CPG products experience required with food and beverage background
at a mid-to-large scale manufacturer strongly preferred.
Experience driving formal Lean/Continuous Improvement programs
