The Business Development & Strategy Department is an Executive-level corporate function supporting growth and innovation within each brand and leading development of new businesses for URBN. The department’s purview is global – supporting growth across all brands, concepts, geographic markets and consumer channels – and is functionally accountable for strategic planning, market research, new business development, corporate development/M&A. The Director of New Business Development is a new role and will be expected to contribute immediately to on-going initiatives, including e-commerce and international expansion, as well as drive innovation and growth through external partnerships, external investments and new internal capabilities.
This is a unique opportunity within the e-commerce, multi-channel specialty retail, consumer technology and media industries. The position will have access to the URBN Chief Executive Officer and Executive Team, as well as the URBN Board of Directors. Moreover, the role will be directly involved in the development of future strategies for the company and its brands. Development and proposal of capability investments for e-commerce and e-marketing expansion
Sourcing and screening of external partnership opportunities, including international
Sourcing and screening of external investment opportunities, including acquisitions
Leadership and execution for select strategic projects
Expansion and management of existing network of select advisory firms
5-10 years of work experience in the e-commerce, multi-channel specialty retail, consumer technology, media industries
3-10 years of work experience in a strategic advisory role to the same industries, such as early state/venture capital, later stage/private equity, investment banking
Progressive career advancement and achievement
Bachelor’s Degree required; MBA or related Graduate Degree preferred.
