Director of Nursing Evergreen Terrace, a long term care facility in Grand Rapids, is seeking a compassionate and caring RN with strong leadership ability to lead our nursing department as the Director of Nursing. Our facility includes specialty units such as memory care and clinically complex medical care. Supervises the nursing department in order to provide quality resident services in accordance to facility policy, state and federal regulations. Primary Responsibilities: *Coordinate the delivery of appropriate care and services to all residents in accordance to facility policy, state and federal regulations and established standards of resident care. *Supervise the nursing department and delegates duties to staff in accordance to an effective organizational plan. *Is the Leader of the Team of Nurse Managers, Staff Development, MDS nurses, Clinical Systems Director, Medical Records and Staffer. *Assures that adequate staff is provided to meet the needs of the residents in accordance to facility budget and industry standards, and reimbursement. *Assure that accurate assessments, interventions and evaluations withsupporting documentation is completed and maintained in a timely manner in each resident?s medical record to assure that desired resident outcomes and established standards of resident care is provided. Assures that medical records are maintained in an organized manner. *Interviews and hires all staff in the department in coordination with the Human Resources Director. Works with Staff Development and HR to on new employee orientation and on-going staff education to assure that the department staff are adequately trained. Responsible to assure that performance evaluations are completed in a timely manner and implements an effective system of discipline and counseling of department staff. *In the absence of the Administrator, could be designated as person-in-charge of the building within the guidelines of the Administrator?s responsibilities. *Confers with the Administrator on a regular basis to discuss current issues and to consider and develop action plans as needed. Notifies Administrator of any state reportable incidents immediately. *Assures that department policies/procedures and position descriptions are in place and are reviewed and changed as necessary or at least on an annual basis. *Confers with the Medical Director and Nurse Practitioners on a regular basis or as needed to assure that appropriate medical care is provided to all residents. Meet with other physicians, residents, guardians or family members as needed. *Is a member of certain committee?s such as Quality Assurance, Pharmacy, Infection Control, Skin, Nutritional at Risk, Medicare, Safety and others as assigned by the Administrator. Facilitates daily Stand-up. *Works with Central Supply to assure adequate supplies are regularly ordered and maintained. *Reviews all Incident reports and notifies MDH of all reportable incidents immediately in collaboration with Social Services Director. Qualifications: *Must possess and maintain a current Minnesota Registered Nurse license. Prefer a BSN in Nursing with at least 3 years of recent long-term care experience. Posses management and supervisory experience in long-term care and comprehensive knowledge of long-term care protocols and procedures. *Must be able to demonstrate competency/proficiency with computers and certain medical equipment. *Requires the ability to positively relate to the needs of nursing home residents and have a genuine appreciation and interest in older people and those with special needs. *Must be able to speak, read and write English in a proficient, understandable manner. *Must be able to perform all duties of the position as outlined on the attached Physical Job Profile. *Must be able to make independent decisions in the best interest of the organization. *Requires patience, tact, willingness to work with and communicate effectively with people regardless of the level at which they are currently functioning. *Must be able to work effectively with the public under all conditions. *Must meet the requirements of the criminal background check law. *Requires regular and punctual attendance.
