for children, adolescents, adults and senior adults through a
comprehensive, integrated system of inpatient treatment and
residential programs. Our purpose is to offer caring, effective
behavioral health services for children, adolescents, adults and
senior adults throughout North Carolina who suffer from mental
illness, chemical dependency or developmental disability.
The Director of Nursing (DON) plans and monitors the delivery
of quality patient care by the RNs, LPNs and Mental Health
Workers. The DON supervises the administration of the work
schedule and assigns workload to the staff maximizing the strengths
and abilities of the staff. The DON and the COO has overall
responsibility for managing, coordinating, supervising and
implementing delivery of services in an effective manner for the
Child/Adolescent, Adult and PRTF programs. The DON serves on
various organizational teams and/or committees and as a consultant to
other departments. The DON monitors and assures the hospital's
compliance with applicable standards, regulations and laws.
Education: Bachelor's degree in nursing required. Master's
degree in nursing preferred.
Experience: Minimum five (5) years' psychiatric nursing experience
and supervisory experience preferred.
License/Certification: Current RN license in the State of North
Carolina and current CPR certification.
Physical Requirements: Work is demanding physically and mentally,
walking and standing most of on-duty time. Must be able to meet
the physical demands of lifting, moving over fifty (50) pounds,
walking and standing for long periods of time.

manage the Nursing team. . Knowledge of appropriate

direct staff in the performance of their duties. . Ability
to accurately administer medication and monitor side-effects. . Ability to safely implement treatment procedures. . Ability to develop therapeutic relationships with patients
and families. . Skill in preparing and maintaining
appropriate medical record documentation. . Must have good
verbal and written communication skills in order to communicate with
members of the interdisciplinary treatment team, managed care
representatives, patients and families in a clear and concise manner.
. Knowledge of individual, group and family therapy
dynamics and techniques as related to cultural, social, economic,
communication and role expectations within family systems. . Knowledge of Joint Commission, CMS and State license
guidelines as it relates to programmatic expectations and
implementation. . Must have proven leadership abilities.
. Strategic planning skills in order to create long-range
plans, conduct SWOT analysis, and implement initiatives to support
BMH's strategic plan. . Knowledge of HIPAA rules and
regulations relative to the position.
