Responsible for planning, organization and administration of nursing services to include staffing, training and development, communications and documentation to maintain quality patient care standards and advise medical staff, department heads, and the administrator in matters related to nursing services.
Recruit and maintain a quality stable staff to meet the level of acuity of the hospital census.
Coordinate sched uling and staff assignments to insure that sufficient but not excessive staff is available to meet the needs of the patients in a cost effectivemanner.
Insure that the nursing staff receives sufficient in-service education, training and development to meet their needs for self development and maintain current certifications.
Develop, implement and administer nursing policies and procedures to insure staff has appropriate guidelines that meet the various regulatory requirements.
Supervise nursing activities verifying that medications are given as ordered and appropriate documentation is maintained to meet physician needs and regulatory requirements.
Maintain quality care standards ensuring that admissions and transfers are appropriate considering the patient’s level of acuity and the hospital’s capacity and staff.
Five years of progressive management experience in psychiatric acute care, residential care, partial care or equivalent is required; demonstrated ability to successfully meet licensing and accreditation standards.
