Responsibilities:

This Director of Operations position will be based out of Grand Valley State University in Allendale, MI. The role is primarily responsible for the overall planning, direction and control of a high volume, complex, multi-location residential and retail food service operation. The Director of Operations will report directly to the onsite Resident District Manager. The role also ensures that fiscal and managerial compliance is executed at all times and develops a talented and engaged work force on the campus. Key Responsibilities - Develop and be accountable for a safety culture that creates a work environment where no one gets hurt - Work closely with RDM to provide overall planning, direction and control to their district to achieve operating and financial goals - Develop district forecasts and communicate variances - Develop plans that will optimize financial performance and productivity - Look for opportunities to implement new products and services, which support sales growth and client retention - Lead team in new location openings, consulting on capital improvement projects for new locations / services - Engage with team, providing vision, motivation and development to managers and other district staff - Develop and maintain effective employee relations - Recruit, develop and train district staff and assist with succession planning for district - Establish and maintain effective customer rapport and maintain mutually beneficial business relationships with clients - Interact with client management and establish and maintain effective, highly communicative client and customer relations - Build effective partnerships with other district leadership and regional leadership team and their staffs - Maintain positive community relations while participating in professional and civic activities and making public appearances

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess multi-unit experience in retail/residential operations exceeding $5 million in sales. Previous experience in residential dining operations is strongly desired. Bachelors Degree with 5+ years of leadership experience is required. A minimum of 3+ years financial accountability is required. 10+ years of experience as a senior manager within dining managed services, retail dining or restaurants highly desired. Experience working with collective bargaining units is preferred. Experience in client engagement within managed service highly desired. Must demonstrate the ability to lead a team in a diverse environment and successfully provide alignment and innovation to generate measurable outcomes for our clients and customers. Must have highly developed interpersonal, analytical and communication (written and verbal) skills. Must desire career advancement beyond this position. Relocatability preferred.
