The Digital Entertainment Products Group is a newly formed division within DIRECTV, charged with creating the best cross-platform entertainment experiences for advanced consumers. The ideal candidate will be passionate about entertainment and technology. He/She will have a deep understanding of the television and digital media industries and be a champion for the consumer. The candidate will have the ability to articulate a vision for sports, movies, and television products across the set top box, mobile/tablets, smart TVs, game consoles, and the web. The candidate will be part of a team that believes in working fast, being accountable, and learning from mistakes.
Responsibilities:
Work cross-functionally within the organization to deliver the best products in the industry
Manage a small team of product managers on medium and long-term strategic projects focused on IP-delivered video content and advanced features
Clearly define and articulate long-term strategies for digital media products and services for advanced consumers
Identify trends and changes in digital media content delivery, discovery, and engagement
Work closely with an Ideation team on future concepts
Understand and communicate consumer behavior for existing products and features
Identify opportunities for new platforms, products, and product enhancements across digital devices and present these ideas to management
Create product documentation including briefs, PRDs, user scenarios, and use cases
Work with Design, UX, and Engineering teams to deliver products and services on time and within budget
Identify new partners and investment opportunities in new platforms and systems
Work on solutions that extend DIRECTV beyond satellite delivery
Represent DIRECTV at conferences, on panels and within trade groups
Qualifications
7 years experience in managing or leading digital product initiatives or related experience at an entertainment media company
Extensive experience in IP video delivered products on tablets, phones, PCs, and other devices
Experience in an agile development process (Scrum, Kanban) strongly preferred
Understanding of content management, recommendation, discovery, and personalization systems
Knowledge of competitive landscape including Pay-TV operators and OTT services
Previous business development and marketing experience helpful but a strong product background is essential
Experience with mobile "second screen" applications highly desired
Strong written and verbal communication skills required
Must be self-motivated and accountable
Understanding of how to develop rapid prototypes, A/B testing, and iterative development practices
Ability to adapt rapidly in a fast moving environment with shifting priorities and the ability to react quickly, dynamically, and intelligently
Must possess excellent analytical and problem solving skills
Ability to understand and engage with technical teams on highly complex projects
