Our client, a global leader in the Polymer Coatings segment, is seeking an experienced and accomplished Director of Procurement & Logistics for their facility near Greenville, SC. You will lead the sourcing activities supporting this business unit working in coordination with the Production Managers, Material Planners, VP of Supply Chain and the entire Sourcing Team of the client company.
This position is responsible for ensuring that required materials are sourced from suppliers that meet our performance standards and material specifications at a competitive price. The successful candidate will purchase and negotiate materials, equipment, and supplies as required by the business. Also, the ideal candidate is familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the procurement field and relies on experience to plan and accomplish goals and assigned tasks.

Lead, coach, mentor, and train the purchasing and logistics team based in the SC facility
Support the facility operations by providing purchasing and inventory management support to assigned product categories
Responsible for executing sourcing projects and other strategic and tactical activities as assigned in support of corporate savings objectives. Utilize knowledge and experience to create, distribute, and expedite RFI’s, RFQ’s, and RFP’s as needed to maximize savings objectives
Select qualified suppliers that meet company objectives with cross functional support and feedback
Evaluates past performance record regarding price, quality, and delivery of known sources against purchasing requirements
Corporate logistics management including 3PL management, sourcing logistics companies, negotiating contracts, establish & reviewing approved logistics carriers, and reporting key metrics to the business
Ensure Company is in compliance with all laws and regulations in relation to the operation of the private fleet. Work with corporate EH&S to ensure all safety regulations and training are maintained
Manage the contract relationship with the Railroad including negotiations as required
Utilize the Adage ERP system to ensure material availability in support of production requirements
Issue PO’s to approved suppliers; Expedite and review material deliveries as needed
Support purchase related activities by conducting spend analysis, implementing savings initiatives, and looking for opportunities to reduce costs and vendor base
Follow up and solve sourcing requests, price comparison, and market basket research
Collaboratively work with Senior Management and all divisions to ensure that sourcing strategies are aligned with Business Plan strategies
Identify, develop and qualify alternate suppliers capable of meeting or exceeding the company's performance criteria
Facilitate and support R&D vendor relationships
Take the lead in supporting and facilitating Vendor meetings and negotiations with R&D
Deliver costs savings in assigned product categories
Evaluate vendor price increases received, and determine justification. Negotiate with vendors to mitigate cost increase pressure. Analyze key markets in order to assess present and future material availability and costs
Excellent communicator, effectively interacting with vendors, staff, department heads, and senior management
Self-manage within assigned accountabilities
Bachelor’s degree; Minimum 8 years of procurement experience (chemical mfg.)
CPSM or C.P.M. certification desirable
Proficiency in Adage with procurement transactions, data capture, analysis, and reporting
Knowledge of strategic sourcing/commodity/spend category management methodology
Willing to work as part of a team with ongoing changing members. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Enthusiastic, self-starter, energetic, organized, and service minded. Able to cope with a wide range of situations, along with abnormal operating hours.
Familiar with corporate standards relating to Code of Conduct, Purchasing Ethical Standards, and policies
