The Director of Production is responsible for managing the department staff responsible for building the courses we deliver to customers. This role requires strong project management skills (to ensure on-time, on-budget, on -spec delivery), demonstrated ability to coach and develop others, and the business savvy to identify the right mix of build vs buy vs. outsource. The role is responsible for managing the 40+ person Production team but also interacting closely with the Product Line Managers and Regulatory team to identify which products to create, update, retire as well as identify the compliance requirements that must be built into each course. The ideal candidate will have experience managing offshore teams as the majority of team members are based in our Pakistan office

DUTIES

General Management & Product Development
  • Provide overall management and continuous coaching and staff development of US staff and the department's Pakistan-based management team
  • Develop and monitor quarterly goals, conduct regular 1:1 meetings, and deliver annual performance reviews for staff.
  • Responsible for delivering, and continuously improving training products and services for 360training content libraries
  • Ensure proper requirements gathering, project planning, schedule management and QA
  • Implement best practices across the organization in key areas e.g. project planning, budget management, capacity management, style guides, cross-location coordination and communication
  • Take a leading role in developing the software roadmap for the in-house content authoring system (LCMS).
  • Continuously monitor trends in eLearning and technology and incorporate insights gained into the production processes, standards and technology tools
Planning, Forecasting & Reporting
  • Prepare and manage annual production budget, including appropriate monthly and quarterly reports on delivery, spend vs budget, quality.
  • Develop, publish and maintain an annual roadmap and rolling 90 day delivery schedule
  • Track cost per clock hour over time to ensure continuous improvement
  • Work with Finance to lead the Investment Review Committee, which reviews and approves business cases for all large projects
Customer Experience
  • Execute best practices for ensuring excellence in instructor training and performance
  • Coordinate with Client Services organization to gather all customer complaints and proactively create a plan to resolve them
  • Manage team responsible for resolving reported content and configuration errors
  • Partner with other Operations functions to innovate new ways to improve customer experience - specifically the in-house Voice of Customer survey results.
Communication & Collaboration
  • Work closely with Product Line Managers to develop product roadmaps and identify which ones to build in-house vs. outsource vs. purchase from content partners
  • Maintain good working relationships with both internal and contract resources
  • Identify and develop relationships with new vendor candidates and maintain database of all current and potential development partners.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience
  • 10+ years related experience and/or bachelor's degree with concentration in one of the following areas: Instructional Design, Adult Learning Methodologies, Education, and/or Web and online educational product development
Experience - Required
  • Strong personnel and project management skills
  • Experience working in online education or related industry
  • P&L management experience and good financial background
