Department leadership (over 50% of time)
Establish, improve, implement, and communicate quality systems and goals of the organization.
Directs the efforts of the QA Department; including supervision of staff and associated personnel actions.
Act as quality management leader by ensuring that the Quality Management System (QMS) processes are established, implemented and maintained; reporting QMS performance; resolving quality management issues and promoting customer requirements awareness. Develops and maintains departmental procedures.
Assigns resources to jobs and assists in scheduling program efforts to meet budgets, goals, and staffing plans for all Quality Staff. Facilitates continuous improvement initiatives in the Quality organization to ensure long-term efficiency and effectiveness.
Define key metrics to track quality performance and activities necessary to achieve improvement to these metrics.
Develop systems, processes and procedures to measure and report performance against established standards.
Drive continuous product and process quality improvements, including engagement with the suppliers.
Provides leadership and supervision of staff
Audits, Compliance & Customer Support (20% to 35% of time)
Oversight of internal quality and process system audits. Develops and deploys an effective internal auditing program to assure proper deployment and use of the Quality System on presenting and discussing company capabilities.
Manage customer source inspection policies and procedures and act as principal contact for inspections and audits for all customer quality-related issues. Investigate customer complaints regarding quality.
Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies, government regulations, and company policies/procedures.
Functional & Technical guidance (20% to 35% of time)
Helps resolve technical/functional questions.
Ensures adequate training and development is in place for the QA staff.
Overall organizational support (less than 20% of time)
Cooperates with top management and other management personnel in formulating and establishing company policies, operating procedures, and goals as to quality and continuous improvement initiatives
Coordinates with other departments to resolve inter-departmental and job-specific issues.
Interfaces with other departments to resolve questions and technical issues. Assists in scheduling tasks for key activities.
Education/ Required: 4 year post secondary education, or equivalent experience.
Bachelors degree required, preferably in a Engineering Discipline
ASQC certification preferred
Desired experience: 10+ years career experience in a Manufacturing environment required, ideally within the Defense, Aerospace, or Automotive industries.
Career progression leading into Quality Management, with at least 5 recent years Quality Manager/Director level experience required.
- Strong working knowledge of AS9100, ISO, quality system regulations, and quality standards required.
- SPC knowledge and experience required.
- Exposure to six sigma and lean manufacturing tools desired
