Responsible for the operation of a 1,386 bed, dynamic Residence Life Department with a vision toward the holistic development of students on a campus that values community and campus-wide collaboration. The Director reports to the Dean of Students/Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and is an integral part of the Division of Student Affairs.

Supervise a staff of three Associate Directors, one Assistant Director, one assignment coordinator, 8 Residence Directors, one administrative support staff, 41 resident assistants and approximately 80 desk staff, as well as oversee staff recruiting, training and evaluation

Oversee housing assignment process and assist University leadership in reporting and projecting housing occupancy and revenue, maximizing use of StarRez housing management system

Manage 24-hour crisis intervention and emergency procedures system for seven-plus residence halls and two university apartment complexes

Support student conduct processes in conjunction with the Dean of Students staff for on-campus students

Manage facilities in collaboration with Director of Facilities

Oversee developmental programming/collaboration for activities in all residential facilities, including but not limited to Living Learning Communities

Administer the department’s budgetary processes including managing payroll and purchasing activities for main office and residence hall services

Lead departmental assessment efforts

Coordinate processes supporting hall services including, computer labs, and hall offices

Represent Residence Life department on University committees, functions, and long range planning processes

Master’s degree in college student personnel, education, or closely related field required. Doctorate preferred

At least five to seven years of related experience in a college or university housing program with progressively increased responsibility which includes supervision of full-time employees, program development, student discipline, and training for paraprofessional staff

Prefer experience with new construction of student housing

Valid driver’s license and a good driving record

Experience with word processing and spreadsheet software; prefer experience with StarRez

Ability to work effectively with diverse groups of students, faculty, and staff

Ability to comply with workplace guidelines

Successful completion of an employment and/or criminal history background check
