Senior Partner, Head of Search

Summary:
The Head of Search is responsible for successfully managing the search business of MediaCom, U.S.. In order to succeed they will ensure search marketing is sufficiently allocated in the client’s communication plan. The Head of Search will approve price and scope of service to ensure client and MediaCom success. The Head of Search will obtain optimum efficiency and economy of operations. The Head of Search will report to the Managing Partner, U.S. Digital Director of MediaCom.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Finance
o Reviews the operating results of the organization, compares them to established objectives, and takes steps to ensure that appropriate measures are taken to correct unsatisfactory results or expand positive results

o Approves all Statements of Work and pricing of search services

o Manages manpower allocations for employees in accordance with MediaCom policies

o Analyzes search planning budgets to identify strengths and weaknesses and ensures proper financial allocations

  • Strategy
o Establishes current and long term goals and objectives that are aligned with MediaCom

o Oversees strategic planning for search agency assignments

o Ensures that MediaCom is leading the search industry with tools, technology and methodology

o Liaise with Managing Partner, U.S. Digital Director to communicate and implement the strategic vision of the organization

o Liaise with sister companies, creative agencies and vendors to ensure “Best in Class” delivery of all search agency services and offerings

  • New Business
o Builds client and agency relationships with support of associated staff

o Directs and coordinates new business efforts, introduces search agency to potential clients, increases share of market, and maintains competitive position in industry

o Develops marketing plan for search business

o Promotes and represents search agency in industry, and trade associations

  • Client Interaction
o Ensures client satisfaction and success

o Provide internal education on search to agency partners

o Develops relationships with agency clients

o Provide services on client accounts per approved scope/ manpower

  • Management
o Plans, coordinates, and oversees the daily operation of the search agency

o Dispenses advice, guidance, direction and authorization to carry out major plans, standards and procedures consistent with established policies

o Meets with MediaCom management to ensure that search agency operations are being executed in accordance with the MediaCom policies

o Establishes and maintains an effective system of communication throughout the MediaCom

o Assesses staffing needs and works with Human Resources to identify opportunities to offer strategic solutions for staffing solutions

o In conjunction with Human Resources, is responsible for the retention and growth of employees

o Management of search agency employees, ensuring that they:
§ Understand their role and responsibilities on the team

§ Attend all planned training sessions as required

§ Follow the standard processes rolled out by MediaCom

§ Receive annual employee performance review in a timely manner

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • People
Appropriate management of search agency employees through:
o Completion and delivery of performance reviews by HR determined deadlines

o Ensuring all new employees complete new hire training within first 30 days

o Ensures all agency employees follow standard MediaCom processes

o Utilization of billable employees at an average of 90% or above

Ensure visibility to agency specific employees throughout the year, regardless of office location

  • Organization
o Works with Managing Partner, U.S. Digital Director and CFO to ensure accurate and timely forecasting of the specific agency revenues in accordance to WPP and MediaCom targets

o Contribute to quarterly ExCo and one-on-one meetings to provide strategic updates to Managing Partner, U.S. Digital Director, as needed

o Works with marketing to promote the search agency at industry events and secure ONE of the following annually:

§ 1 personal speaking engagements annually

§ 1 external facing, publicized POVs, articles or white papers annually

§ 2 internal POVs, white papers or case studies annually

§ 1 quarterly post to SearchFuel

o Provide internal education on search to agency partners

o Maintain healthy relationships with third party vendors

  • Clients
o Build strong working relationships with defined client leadership and OpCo management

o Ensures agency accounts have proper manpower and SOWs in place that result in appropriate staffing and client deliverables.

o Annual internal submission of award entries

o When agency scorecards are in place, ensure that search is represented and that your agency maintains a good rating

Qualifications, Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree Required
  • 8-10 years of relevant SEO/SEM experience, plus 5+ years of related digital marketing experience
  • Experience leading a team of Search and Digital Marketing Professionals
