The role of the Director of Special Projects is to plan, execute and close projects according to schedule and within budget. This position reports to the COO and will coordinate with attorneys, directors, committees, and other groups as assigned to provide assistance and support. The successful candidate will display proven project ownership and experience throughout the entire project lifecycle. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating activities of project resources to deliver projects according to plan.

Specifically:
  • Proactively handle day-to-day operational and tactical aspects of multiple or large scale projects from beginning to end

  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential issues and devise contingency plans

  • Serve as Project Manager of end-to-end system development life cycle of both major and minor projects

  • Develop and execute full-scale project plans and associated communications documents

  • Effectively communicate project expectations and requirements to project resources and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion

  • Plan, schedule and track project timelines, milestones and deliverables using appropriate tools

  • Manage problem-solving and dispute resolution of project issues

  • Develop costing proposals for new and existing projects, perform risk analysis, and manage change control

  • Build, develop and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the project

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years direct work experience providing senior level project management with emphasis on business software application implementation

  • Minimum 3+ years of direct project management experience which included leading teams of both technical and business resources

  • Certification in Project Management preferred (PMP)

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • SQL query development and implementation experience a plus

  • Strong ability to work independently or in a team-oriented, collaborative environment while applying senior level experience to business and technology project decision-making

  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucial

  • Can conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities

  • Competent and proficient with Microsoft Project and Microsoft Office products

  • Must be able to learn, understand and apply new technologies

  • Ability to bring projects to successful completion through political sensitivity

  • Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management, clients and other practices
