Reporting to the Assistant Dean, and serving as part of the senior team in the Office of Student Affairs, the director focuses her/his attention on the areas of student culture, engagement and communication for MBA students. Plays a leadership role in fostering a comprehensive learning environment that fosters the academic, leadership and social development of a diverse student population. Job Duties 1. Leads and supervises a Student Life team within the Office of Student Affairs, providing strategy, structure and guidance. Participates in the senior leadership team for the Office of Students Affairs. 2. Leads integration efforts for MBA student engagement with other important constituencies, including EMBA students, other graduate students on campus, and the broader Morningside Heights community, through outreach and programming. Strong emphasis on collaboration with External Relations on MBA/alumni engagement, class campaign and other efforts. 3. Supports the Assistant Dean in the management of community standards and norms, including the implementation of the Honor Code and Community Contract. Responsibilities including developing training materials, educational outreach, specific work with students pursuing education in the US for the first time. Provides resources and training for academic integrity. 4. Researches, creates and develops training around cultural issues of importance to the MBA community, including community standards, classroom norms, student wellness, student conduct and behavior. Collaborates with university resources on training around gender-based misconduct, student protests and demonstrations, public safety and other university policies and procedures. 5. Collaborates with the Program on Social Intelligence, Career Management Center, and the Samberg Institute to develop and implement communications training for MBA students. 6. Manages the communication strategy for the Office of Student Affairs, including communication with incoming and current students. Includes serving as liaison to Marketing and Communications for the revision of student-facing website, including driving content, as well as the departmental usage of social media. Serves as liaison to internal communications. Manages the technology strategy for OSA, student organizations, acting as the OSA liaison to ITG, including web communications efforts, the student guide and social media usage. 7. Helps lead staff development and training within OSA, with a focus on cross-training of skills and team development in topics including crisis management and student services. 8. Represents the Office of Student Affairs at School-wide events as needed. 9. Handles general student traffic and requests as part of a student services organization. 10. Performs related work and special projects as needed.

Minimum Qualifications for Grade Applicant MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant

Bachelor's degree required. master's degree preferred. Five to seven years of related experience required, preferably student affairs, training or programming experience.

Additional Position-Specific Minimum Qualifications Applicant MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant

Must have excellent interpersonal, communications and presentation skills. Must have excellent organizational skills and an ability to work with changing priorities and multiple projects in a high volume environment. Ability and willingness to work evenings and some weekends expected. Must be able to work with a diverse student body, faculty and administrators.

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with Columbia Business School preferred; alumni are encouraged to apply. Customer service background a plus.
