Mercer University invites applications for the position of Associate Dean of University Libraries and Director of the Monroe F. Swilley, Jr. Library on the Atlanta Campus. We seek an individual with an inclusive, collegial leadership style and strong communication skills to help guide the Swilley Library into the next generation of library services on a growing campus. The new Director will be part of developing a Strategic Plan for the University Libraries that will explore opportunities for innovation, collaboration, and resource sharing in support of Mercer's mission.

Responsibilities: Leads Swilley Library in delivering services, collections, liaison activities, technologies and facilities to support a growing population of graduate, professional and working adult students. As a member of University Libraries Management Team, helps manage projects that improve services and facilities, enhance quality of resources, and increase operational efficiency within the University Libraries. Manages library faculty and staff, including employee recruitment, retention and evaluation. Fosters professionalism, diversity, and a positive work/learning environment. In consultation with the Dean, develops and manages Swilley Library budgets. Serves as an active, visible Atlanta campus citizen in promoting the Library and in advocating library needs through strong working relationships and collegiality. Represents the Libraries on Atlanta Campus and University committees. Represents Mercer University in library consortia and other groups as required. Attends or convenes meetings in the absence of Dean as needed. Supports University and programmatic accreditations through assessment activities and documenting library compliance with accreditation standards. Supports library fundraising activities and donor relations especially those associated with the Atlanta campus. Participates in Division of Library Services, University and library committees and staff development activities as well as demonstrating commitment to personal professional development. Reports to the Dean of University Libraries.

The Swilley Library, located on a beautiful wooded campus in Northeast Atlanta, serves over 3,000 students in business, education, nursing, pharmacy and health sciences, theology and adult learner programs on a culturally and demographically diverse campus. The liaison program is a hallmark of Swilley Library's service to academic programs and overall high quality patron service. One of four Mercer Libraries, Swilley is part of the University Libraries with a shared ILS and shared electronic resources, and is supported by University Libraries Systems staff and a Technical Services Processing Center at the Tarver Library, Macon. Qualifications
Required Qualifications: Masters of Library Sciences or equivalent from an ALA Accredited program. At least 7 years academic library experience, with a proven record of successful leadership and administrative skills. Demonstrated ability to manage librarians and staff for excellent customer service in a dynamic, learning-centered environment. Ability to anticipate and respond to changing needs and priorities and create positive outcomes. Commitment to fostering teamwork, collegiality, relationship building and mentoring within a culturally diverse campus and library environment. Knowledge of current practices and trends in use and integration of emerging library technologies. Demonstrated organizational, presentation and interpersonal communication skills, including initiative, flexibility, creativity, problem solving and ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, faculty, staff and students. Evidence of a commitment to professional development and contributions to librarianship. Ability to honor Mercer's Baptist heritage as it relates to library services and campus culture. Ability to articulate vision and mission of the Swilley Library to community leaders, donors and alumni for public relations and fundraising activities. Desirable Qualifications: Experience working in a multi-campus academic setting. Experience with library services to graduate, professional and working adult students. Experience with library liaison programs. Experience with shared/collaborative library technology systems, collection development and resource sharing. Experience with assessment and accreditation standards.

Appointment and Salary: The successful candidate will be appointed as a full time (12 month) non-tenure track faculty member in the Division of Library Services. Salary and faculty rank are dependent on qualifications and experience. Mercer offers a strong benefits package, including tuition waiver program and 22 vacation days plus University holidays.
