The Director of Technology Development is a newly created position will work in the Universal Pictures Technology office. The primary responsibilities will be to manage our development and schedule of our digital offerings including Ultraviolet consumer facing services and internal development of our Ultraviolet distribution standards worldwide. This person will be required to work with various groups across the studio in operations, marketing and business development. Along with managing ongoing digital technology projects, this person will be responsible for communicating project status and collect strategic development requirements as input to our continuing evolution of digital services.
Project management over digital distribution projects. Technical management of vendors, adherence to schedule and cost management.
Technology development in evolving areas of digital distribution including Interactivity, distribution file formats, audio, subtitle and video format selection.
Participate in standards groups as necessary for new format development such as Ultraviolet/DECE, W3C, SMPTE, DLNA.
Bachelors or Masters degree in engineering, math/physics or computer science or equivalent technical entrepreneurship experience.
At least 5 years managing successful web or other related media products.
Substantial experience in content/media delivery or post production.
Solid familiarity and experience with current media, distribution and web technology. Including compression, web architecture and connected device platforms.
Past experience working in a cross functional sense. Proven ability to form clear viewpoints and promulgate them to others to build consensus. Comfortable interacting with senior management while working closely with colleagues in the legal team.

Willingness to travel (15% of time) and work overtime, and on weekends with short notice.
