The Director of Technology Operations will work in the Universal Pictures Technology office. The primary responsibilities will be to address immediate business risks related to digital content and implement proper management of digital assets, e.g., storage, labeling, redundancy, metadata, and archiving.
Setup Production Metadata and Labeling Process
Develop standards for labeling and metadata for digital assets.
Manage proper metadata creation across pre-production, production and post-production.
Implement tools to search for digital assets.
Develop inventory system to allow quick, convenient location of existing material.
Manage Redundancy of Digital Assets during Storage and Transfer
Develop policies and procedures for storage and transfer of digital content.
Ensure appropriate redundancy in all phases of creation, transfer, and storage of digital video.
Ensure multiple copies of digital data are created and stored.
Develop and implement disaster recovery plans for digital assets.
Coordinate Archival of Digital Materials
Establish procedures and best practices for archival of digital materials.
Coordinate with existing archive and vault group.
Manage Vendor Compliance
Ensure outside vendors implement Universal processes and procedures.
Develop appropriate contractual provisions for vendor contracts.
Bachelors or Masters degree in engineering, math/physics or computer science or equivalent technical experience.
At least 5 years managing media projects.
Substantial experience in technology for production, post-production, and content/media storage and delivery.
Experience with current video, distribution and computer technology.
Past experience working in a cross-functional groups with diverse interests. Proven ability to form clear viewpoints and promulgate them to others to build consensus.
