The Director of University Advisement will lead a team of University Advisors who cultivate student relationships and support overall student success at Ashford University. Position Summary:

Reporting to the Divisional Vice President, the Director University Advisement is a full-time position located in one of the following locations:
• San Diego, California
• Denver, Colorado
• Clinton, Iowa
• Some off-site locations in Arizona
The Director of University Advisement will lead a team of University Advisors who cultivate student relationships and support overall student success at Ashford University. This person has demonstrated successful leadership abilities and thrives in a challenging, innovative workplace.
The Director of University Advisement will be responsible for the selection of University Advisors, will lead relationship building efforts, and effectively collaborate with team members. This role is responsible for executing the University’s mission and values while delivering on the brand promise of changing lives.
In addition to leadership functions, the Director of University Advisement will be responsible for team management and relationship building with internal and external parties. Additionally, this person has full responsibility for their team’s ability to grow and maintain student populations.
Essential Job Duties:
• Inspire and motivate a team of University Advisors to change lives every day
• Establish team performance targets, plans to deliver results accordingly, and reports results as appropriate
• Seek out competitive knowledge on the Education industry, technology and related fields
• Coach team members on strategic plans including database management, effective call strategy and personal goal setting
• Effectively manage and monitor all resources to ensure optimal efficiency of student inquiries
• Create an engaging team environment that empowers others to achieve results
• Work with University Advisors to ensure students are properly advised
• Exercise discretion when handling confidential information
• Adhere to all company and Universities policies and compliance standards
• Other duties consistent with this position as assigned

Minimum Requirements:
• Demonstrated ability to develop, maintain and leverage strong relationships, internally and externally
• 5+ years of applicable experience
• 5+ years experience leading teams
• Proven track record of attaining and exceeding individual and team goals
• Strong critical thinking skills, as demonstrated by the ability to discern situations
• Able to make appropriate decisions within scope of authority and present multiple recommendations to senior management.
• Ability to lead through change
• Strong analytical, numerical and reasoning abilities.
Education:
• A bachelor’s degree from an institution accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the US Department of Education, Masters preferred.

Communication Skills: While performing Duties of the job, the employee is required to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence and memos. The employee requires the ability to write effective and detailed correspondence and to effectively present information both in one-on-one and small group situations.
Mental Demands: While performing duties of this job, the employee is required to deal with stress associated with a fast-paced work environment and multiple priorities/tasks. The employee will be required to make judgment decisions and adapt to changing work situations, grasp and apply new ideas, communicate with various personalities at all levels and have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed instructions.
Work Environment: While performing duties of this job, the employee is required to work in an office environment, and the noise level is usually moderate to loud.
