Reporting to the Director of the National Resource Center for Participant-Directed Services (NRCPDS), the Director of Veterans Initiatives will be responsible for directing the development, oversight and deliverables of initiatives taken on by the NRCPDS specifically to advance the implementation of innovative participant direction models. This person will lead the NRCPDS' work with the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), to include directing and monitoring the Center support for national veteran-directed home and community-based services (HCBS) programs and communicating with the VHA Geriatrics and Extended Care leadership.
The essential functions of the Director of Veterans Initiatives are:
Directing the Center's work on the Veterans-Directed Home and Community-Based Care Program (VD-HCBS) including overseeing the completion of Readiness Reviews by organizations wishing to participate in the VD-HCBS program, managing training for VHA sites, participating in project calls and meetings, supervising the VHA Program Associate and Analyst, and advising the Director regarding public policy strategies on Veterans Affairs.
Directing the development, oversight and deliverables of initiatives taken on by the NRCPDS specifically to advance the implementation of innovative participant direction models.
Participating in NRCPDS meetings.
Participating in the development of proposals to philanthropic and federal agencies.
Must have a Bachelor's Degree, preferably a Master's Degree in Management, Human Services, Social Work, or a related field. Must have a minimum of 5 years of professional experience with significant participant-direction and program knowledge of budget authority and VD-HCBS. Familiarity with research, long term care and the aging/disability required. In addition, must have excellent written and oral communication skills; analytical, interpersonal and problem-solving ability and the ability to plan and carry out data analyses. Also must be self-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team, and possess the ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines.
