Anyone may apply for this position. Current employees San Mateo County and the Superior Court of California in San Mateo County with at least 6 months (1040 hours) of continuous service in a permanent or probationary position prior to the final filing date will receive five preferential points added to their final passing score on the examination process.
The examination will consist of an interview (weight: 100%) that may include a written and/or performance exercise component. Depending on the number of applicants an application appraisal of education and experience may be used in place of other examinations or a screening committee may select those applicants whose education and/or experience, as demonstrated on the application, appear to best meet the needs of the position. Because of the screening process, not all applicants meeting the minimum qualifications are guaranteed advancement through any subsequent phase of the examination.
