GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

Responsible for fielding phone calls in dispatch, creating solutions for customers needs, managing all aspects of second runs - order entry, routing, driver availability based on hours worked and DOT regs. Monitor route progress throughout the day, reporting all pertinent employee and customer information immediately.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assume all transportation and safety responsibilities and notify management in the event of an emergency.
  • Address backhauls and pick-ups.
  • Answer telephone calls from customers/ sales/drivers – find solutions to issues
  • Manage 2nd Runs/Hot Shots – from order entry to routing to delivery
  • Monitor delivery progress.
  • Efficiently coordinate and utilize drivers by quickly evaluating hours worked and DOT hours of service laws.
  • Handle cash and checks from driver check-in, and C.O.D. will-calls.
  • Check drivers in as they complete their routes.
  • Confirm inventory.
  • Collect DVIR’s
  • Inspect trucks for cleanliness
  • Communicate with co-workers, management, clients, franchisees, and others in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Holiday, Weekend and Overtime work may be required.
  • Good attendance and adherence to work schedule is a priority.

  • Ability to work in past-paced environment.
  • Basic cash handling experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of the Front Range and mountain areas - REQUIRED
  • Must have a CDL Class A or Class B
  • EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
    • High school diploma or equivalent.

    • Must be mobile and able to reach above head, bend and manually move 40 lb. boxes of paper or various product packages.
    • Ability to wear a telephone headset enabling mobility while on the dock.
    • Ability to work in cold environments for prolonged periods of time.
    • Basic data entry.
    • Ability to cope with stress effectively
    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms, and sit for extended periods and perform repetitive movements in wrists and arms on a frequent basis. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    Office/Warehouse environment

    Work is performed intermittently between the desk (indoor/office) and on the dock (checking in trucks).

    The noise level in work environment at a desk or table requiring sitting, standing and stooping, and must occasionally lift and or move up to 50 pounds.
