The Transmission and Distribution Department at MECO has a Bargaining Unit vacancy available. (Role: Implementor) Fundamental Responsibilities Directs and is responsible for the loading of lines, cables and substations, and for all switching operations on the Company system. Receives and acts on "Limited Hold-Off" and "Hold-Off" requests; writes, checks and issues switching orders. Coordinates equipment outages so that there will be a minimum of interference with system operation. Operates switching devices and regulators by remote control; controls power flow; directs transmission and distribution voltages and power and reactive load on the system. Operates data acquisition and control systems through input-output device. Monitors annunciators and alarms and interrogates system for location of trouble and interprets relay operations. Receives trouble calls and directs restoration of power after an interruption with minimal supervision. Directs the operation of the Company radio system. Keeps daily logs and reports, makes entries on operating maps and makes operating changes on system board. Writes interruption reports. Monitors power flow from other generating plants tied in with Company system. Studies new substations and line installations in the field to become familiar with the Company system. Makes studies and reports for load growth, system interruptions and trouble calls. Arranges with major consumers for power outage on pre-arranged shutdowns. Visits generating plants, substations and major consumers to better understand the function of their systems. Dispatch Troubleman to process meter orders. Assists supervisor in completing operational reports. Other Responsibilities Performs similar and incidental duties as required. Fundamental Requirements Graduate of Lineman or Primary Troubleman Apprenticeship Program OR equivalent training and experience. Color blindness not acceptable. Must have or be able to qualify for State of Hawaii driver's license. Must pass the STCA (Short Test of Clerical Ability). Must be able to work shifts and be available for overtime work.
