Reporting to the Dissertation Support Center Supervisor, the Dissertation Advisor will build professional partnerships with mentors and learners to optimize the achievement of degree completion goals.
Dissertation Advisors offer coaching, support and referrals for mentors to promote the understanding of success strategies for dissertation completion as well as Capella University’s policies, practices, and procedures. Dissertation Advisors also work directly with doctoral learners who are in the comprehensive examination and dissertation phases of their program, using a proactive coaching model to help learners achieve their academic goals and persist to graduation. Dissertation Advisors build professional relationships with mentors and learners, facilitating problem resolution within specific timeframes. Dissertation Advisors work closely with mentors and Dissertation Success Managers to proactively challenge at risk learners to overcome barriers and obstacles using academic resources, coaching, and development of plans to guide them to degree completion. This collaboration enhances learners' academic success and positively impacts learner persistence.

Located in Minneapolis, MN and relocation is not available
- Master's degree required.
- 2+ years of experience as an academic advisor, enrollment representative, school counselor, student personnel worker, career counselor, faculty development specialist, or other relevant work experience using advanced coaching, counseling and problem solving skills required. Experience working with adult learners and/or faculty is preferred.
- Ability to communicate and build professional relationships with a wide range of mentors and adult learners through primarily phone and email interactions.
