Under the direction of Dissertation Support Center Supervisor, Dissertation Policy Specialists support the mission of Capella University’s Dissertation Support Center. Dissertation Policy Specialists are responsible for managing complex and highly individualized dissertation processes tied to policy. This includes creating cases for review, processing and communicating decisions, and updating learner records.

Case Review Facilitation:
Consult with internal partners on application of existing policies and procedures. Interpret policy, apply existing processes and develop new processes to support university policies related to Academic Standing, Exception requests, Change of Program and Re-enrollment requests, Faculty Complaints and Research Misconduct. Solicit information from key stakeholders and assemble documents for review. Coordinate sharing of documentation and review of cases.
Process and communicate decisions to mentors, learners, advisors and other key stakeholders.
Update learner records based on determinations. Ensure use of appropriate service indicators and careful documentation of cases.
Other Duties as Assigned
* A BA or BS degree is preferred. Three years post- baccalaureate experience in an academic environment or equivalent field may be substituted for the degree.
* Extensive knowledge and expertise in Dissertation Support Center and Capella University policies, processes and practices.
* A strong record of case management as well as adherence to standard Service Level Agreements.
* The ability to consistently adhere to practice with careful attention to detail while performing work efficiently.
* Able to move easily from one task to another and handle a high case load in a fast paced and stressful environment.
* Critical thinking and coordinated effort to ensure appropriate handling of a wide variety of cases.
