Job Title: Distribution Center Intern

Department: Distribution and Services

Specialty: Internship

Reports To: Distribution Center Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Summary:
The Distribution Center Intern will focus on projects within the distribution center, including but not limited to process improvement, department metrics improvement, evaluating product flow through department/building, and leading 5S events. The Distribution Center Intern will work closely with the Distribution Center Manager and Department Supervisors to support building/department initiatives. The Distribution Center Intern may also assist in the accurate preparation of customer orders in any operational department, Receiving, Picking, Shipping, or Commodities, and will be expected to following company safety practices.

Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions:
Review processes of an operational department and introduce lean/six sigma processes

Review current department metrics, understand its application, evaluate, improve, and successfully implement in their assigned department

Review department flow and provide suggestions to remove bottlenecks, balance staffing, and suggest layout improvements.

Assist in the creation of process documentation

Proactively analyze overall distribution logistics within the entire supply chain

Lead Kaizen events and value stream mapping efforts

Adhere to all company safety policies and initiatives

Required Experience

Job Requirements/Specifications:
High School Diploma or GED

Currently enrolled in a College or University pursuing Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field

Able to commit to a set work schedule

Proficient in Microsoft Office software specifically Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Start date of June 10, 2013
