We are searching for a Distribution Fleet Operations
Analyst who will be responsible for performing all rate
analyses for the Private Fleet; Truck and Rail, Inbound
and Outbound operations. He/she will be the primary
analytical resource for the Private Fleet Operations and
the primary freight rate analyst for the remainder of
the Distribution Department. In the role of freight rate
analyst, will identify cost savings opportunities and
propose methods to achieve these savings through the use
of systems or other. This position will also be
responsible for providing and developing reports and
queries from the systems for the end user.
This position will participate in all aspects of the
Annual Planning Process for Logistics and Transportation
as required.
Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited

to:
  • Fleet sizing ( Truck and Rail)
  • Lease, rent or purchase options
  • Equipment and Maintenance cost analysis, tracking and
trends
  • Fleet staffing costing and measurements
  • Diesel fueling costing and tracking
  • Driver pay vs. Premium pay
  • Evaluating Administrative Needs-Automation, Process
Review
  • Cost to set up or remove fleet equipment
Areas to evaluate will include:
  • Freight Rate-specific analyses and analysis of data
from the CarrierPoint Load Tendering software.
  • Cost per cwt; Fleet vs. Common Carrier trucks vs.
other modes (rail/intermodal, etc)
  • Freight Rate trends by lane, by customer, by mode
  • Complete ad hoc cost/benefit analyses of potential
Sourcing/Market changes
  • Cost per mile/cwt/sq/ton for rail lanes
  • Freight rates by key markets, exports rates and fees,
Canada rate
  • Benchmarking of flatbed trucking costs against Market
indicators.
  • Provide Complete Routine Freight Rate Analysis
  • Provide analytical support for major projects, Fleet
Expansion, Freight Rate Management
  • Participate in the completion of the Transportation
budget with the Private Fleet Manager, Plant Logistics
Managers, Regional Transportation Managers and Director
of Transportation.
  • Participate in the completion of the Private Fleet
Budgeted expense, Warehouse and Shipping budget shuttle
freight with the Plant Logistics Managers and the
Regional Transportation.
  • Participate in all aspects of the Annual Plan and
Budgeting as required for the Private Fleets and
Transportation Department.
This position will be supervised by the Private Fleet
Manager.

Job Requirements:
BA/BS Degree in Business and/or Logistics coupled with
2-5 years related experience in a high volume
manufacturing, distribution, production planning, and/or
transportation environment; APICS certification
desirable.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite;
Intermediate proficiency in use of business intelligence
software, i.e. TM1. Intermediate knowledge of freight
rates; entry level knowledge of transportation, planning
and inventory management systems.
Intermediate verbal and written communication skills;
advanced analytical skills; advanced problem solving and
decision making skills.
