Job Summary and Mission

Responsible for providing support to all areas of the operation, providing guidance for all levels of packing and equipment use, including planning and prioritizing operations according to the requirements of existing accounts. Acts as the lead to the other Distribution Specialists and assist warehouse staff in receiving general cargo including the manual loading and unloading with the use of a pallet jack, hand truck or forklift, general labor, and warehouse maintenance. Assist in the training and evaluation of new warehouse staff. Models and acts in accordance with our guiding principles and core values.

Summary of Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to the following:

Develop and maintain excellent service to internal and external customers at all times.

Receive cargo from incoming trucks by removing from truck by hand, or by using manual equipment such as hand truck or pallet jack, or by using forklift.

Verify and note the count and condition of cargo received, knowing when to either refuse or accept with notation.

Record receipts to “on-hand” form, and to log book. Verify that proper documentation is attached.

Operate PC-based receiving systems when applicable.

Segregate cargo received by account or intended location, and store in proper location.

Know the special handling requirements and necessary documentation related to special cargo, including hazardous or sensitive materials.

Perform all forklift requirements, including heavy and oversized pieces. Be proficient in all types of container stuffing, including blocking and bracing.

Develop load plans for trucks and containers, anticipate equipment needs for a shipment.

Assist in general warehouse planning, including storage arrangements, daily job flow.

Assist in training of new warehouse staff on equipment and customer requirements.


Summary of Experience and Education

High School Diploma or GED required.

Minimum three years related experience.

Minimum three years industry experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.

Ability to operate forklift and pallet jack.

Accurate typing skills and/or data entry skills.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, internet, web-based and job specific software applications.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide using units of U.S. or international currency, weight, volume and distance measurements.

Manages complex or emotional customer situations promptly and professionally meeting commitments for service and assistance.

Ability to read, write and speak English fluently.

Read, analyze and interpret highly complex regulations and procedures and respond to common inquiries or complaints.

Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of customers and employees.

Analyzes complex problems and develops alternative solutions.

Contributes to building a positive team spirit and puts success of team above own interests.

Licenses and Certifications

Valid state issued driver's license.

Forklift Driver Certification

DOT Dangerous Goods/Hazardous Materials Certification.
