POSTION: DISTRICT WELLNESS COORDINATOR – PROVISONAL
SALARY: $53,505 - $65,278
LOCATION: HEALTH RELATED SERVICES, Room 428, City Hall
Typical Work Activities
Assists in the developing of and coordinates, implements and evaluates the Coordinated School Health program for the Buffalo School District;
identifies resources for health services that includes local health department, district school nursing staff and other community professionals in the health service field;
uses the School Health Index to determine school health priorities;
acts as a liaison with the District's Food Service department to monitor the program;
Collaborates with school staff, including administrators, principals and teachers for the promotion of student and staff health, to ensure improved academic outcomes;
schedules Coordinated School Health professional development opportunities for all employees, as needed;
Assists schools in the development of and expansion of School Wellness Teams, that will include administrators, principals, teachers, students, parents, community members and health professionals;
provides leadership to same in the interpretation of health related statutes;
Establishes and coordinates efforts among community partners and organizations for the delivery of Coordinated School Health program;
Researches, collects and verifies data, and prepares reports for submission to the Director of Health Related Services, regarding school wellness team status, activities and successes;
retrieves for health data for State reporting systems;
Oversees the administration of the Youth Risk Behavior Survey, as required by the District;
Performs related duties as required.
Master's or Bachelor's Degree in the field of health and wellness, public health, health services, nutrition, nursing, psychology/mental health services or a closely related health field and three years of full-time experience working with children, adolescents and families, in the administration of a health care or health promotional program.
Note: Verifiable part-time experience will be pro-rated to meet full-time experience requirements. Proof of education must be presented at time of appointment.
