We have an outstanding career opportunity for a District Systems Engineering Manager located in our NYC office. The individual is responsible for driving software revenue through the effective management, mentoring, and training of a team of systems engineers. The district Systems Engineering manager works closely with the district Sales manager to ensure the Pre-sales organization is effectively able to support sales in converting opportunities and ensure the region has scale and skill sets to support sales opportunities. This is a player/coach position, therefore it is required that the candidate possess extremely strong technical pre-sales, architecture, and major account management skills. It is expected that a large percentage of time will be focused on major account technical sales campaigns/management.

Position Responsibilities include:
Participate in account planning and opportunity funnel management; work with district sales management to help formulate sales strategies, aligning appropriate technical resources with the sales campaign

Perform discovery while engaging with the customer to understand key technical, financial, operational, and business issues that can be mitigated or alleviated with the CommVault Simpana suite. Distill the discovery into a concise message, outlining the salient technical, business, operational, and financial that the Simpana suite addresses

Propose and demonstrate the CommVault Simpana suite of products through the use of demo’s, white board, presentations, etc.

Provide technical leadership to the district systems engineering team

Hire and mentor systems engineers focusing on technical development, strengthening business case creation skills, solution architecting skills, competitive product knowledge, and pre-sales account management skills

Assist, as needed, with industry speaking engagements or seminars

Create and present the business case surrounded by merits of a to C-level executives

Keep abreast of industry trends, best practices, and competing/complimentary products

Develop strong customer relationships, ensuring that technical account management best practices are being followed by the systems engineering team

Conduct, manage, and lead customer software pilots or “proof-of-concepts”

Work with internal departments (sales, support, marketing, development), as appropriate, to ensure success during sales campaigns and/or to ensure the customer experience is extremely positive

Manage relationships with the Professional Services manager in sharing resources, where appropriate, to facilitate a seamless sales process

Position Requirements include:
BS in Computer Science or related technical field (MS in Computer Science or MBA plus)

5+ years in the software or storage industry; 3+ years experience managing pre-sales systems engineers

Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

Ability to lead a team to solve complex business / technical issues

Prior experience selling, installing, and architecting data management solutions (backup and recovery, data migration, replication, compliance, SRM, etc)

Specialized knowledge/skills and demonstrated proficiency with at least one major open systems operating system (UNIX or NT)

Enterprise application exposure or knowledge of (Oracle, Exchange, Informix, Sharepoint, etc)

Firm understanding of tape drives, libraries, storage arrays, storage networking, networking protocols, and general connectivity in multi-platform enterprise environments

Travel 50%+ of the time within assigned territory
