GENERAL PURPOSE:
Responsible for monitoring production reports, well expenses, contracts and preparing requests for payment to leaseholders and partners. Resolves more complex administrative problems with partners independently. Provide research, analysis, support and payment terms and obligations throughout the full EP life-cycle.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
Analyze and interpret petroleum contracts and provide timely set-ups, payments and obligations

Maintain records to ensure payments made to private, corporate and government owners are in compliance with all applicable laws, statutes, regulations and petroleum contracts

Manage payments including: minimum royalty payments, shut-in royalty payments, tax distribution reconciliation and analysis of royalty payments

Recognize and develop solutions for non-routine ownership issues and payments

Independently perform due diligence to ensure thorough and accurate compliance with contract terms and obligations

Generate ad-hoc reports as requested by technical teams and land operations

Research and resolve complex inquiries and issues related to DOI ownership and payments

Establish and cultivate strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders

Contribute to the evaluation and improvement of key work processes to increase efficiency and reduce costs

Provide support to lawsuit cases

Assist with Land Administrations projects as needed

Assist with training less experienced staff to analyze and interpret relevant documentation

Conduct business with the highest ethical standards; demonstrate decision-making skills that ensure the safety of all persons associated with SM facilities

Other duties as assigned

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in Law, Petroleum Management or Business related degree

Minimum of 4 years of related experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Proficient level of skill in Microsoft Office

Strong knowledge of land document management and systems

Broad understanding of contract limitations and relevant legal constraints

Working knowledge of Land and mineral titles and the ability to cure common title defects

Remains abreast on applicable state laws, regulations, statutes and Land Administration systems

Ability to interface with multi-disciplinary teams on land related topics

Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously

Demonstrates some project/team leadership

Strong written and verbal communication
