Purpose of Position:
Manage and maintain the Divisions Quality Engineering tools and processes used by Corning Life Sciences' manufacturing plants worldwide. Promote continuous improvement methodologies within the Quality System regarding failure, and complaint investigation, corrective actions and new product development. Promote a consistent, effective, and efficient process through inter-department communication, internal manufacturing understanding, and sharing of information.

Key Responsibilities:
Creation and manage the divisions Quality Systems as it relates to the tools and techniques of Quality Engineering. Provide leadership to the plant Quality Organizations to ensure consistency and compliance to policies and procedures created: Failure investigation (internal and external) Complaint investigation Product Change management Product Validation Process Validation New Product Development Supplier Assessment/Approval Responsible for the identification of Division wide electronic management tools for aspects of the Quality and Regulatory Systems used within the organization. Responsible for Cost of Quality metrics, to be tracked, measured, reported; areas for improvement to be prioritized and acted upon. Management and resourcing of department project portfolio. Support Quality Engineering efforts to define new product test methods, test/inspection process improvements, and to resolve supplier/customer quality issues including re-inspection efforts. Integrate efforts and interface with Product/Process Engineering, Extrusion Operations, and Finishing Operations to drive resolution. Drive department project portfolio to meet ongoing business needs including ongoing management of department resources (both materials and people). Develop methods/metrics to evaluate and continuously improve process capability and effectiveness of systems. Meet annual objectives of permanent quality fixes. Support the Facility to drive the process control/process discipline culture. Establishment of critical acceptance/quality criteria on new and established products. Interpretation of Regulatory requirements.

Required Education and Skills:
Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline Minimum of 10 years’ experience (preferably in a regulated manufacturing environment) with 5 years of experience in a plant quality management role. Effective project management skills; experience in managing large-scale and/or multiple projects simultaneously. Organized; ability to prioritize and manage multiple activities to meet demanding production schedules and dynamic shipment requirements. Strong Communication skills, ability to effectively communicate and interact across all levels. Relationship building. Flexibility, Ability to work in a dynamic environment while managing multiple priorities. Tactical /analytical thinking. High sense of urgency. Proficiency in MS Office applications (EXCEL, Access), Peoplesoft, Proficy. Previous supervisory experience. Previous statistical / quality experience.

Desired Education and Skills:
Knowledge and familiarity of internal (and external) manufacturing specifications, process capability, quality systems, and quality architecture development. Basic understanding of Six Sigma and/or Lean manufacturing systems. Certified Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt. Familiarity with life sciences products and manufacturing processes.
