SUMMARY: A document control clerk (DCC) is responsible for the management and organization of physical surgical record documents regarding patient billing and business office copies of patient encounters, whether by electronic method, courier service or general intra-office delivery procedures. Has the responsibility of creating, adjusting and maintaining routing and filing systems within the business office for Peri-Operative Services. A document control specialist’s main concern is the physical handling and accountability for specialized documents and correspondence within the Peri-operative Services Departments. QUALIFICATIONS: High school graduate or equivalent is required, some college education or advanced training is preferred for record management.

Must be able to type and operate general word processing programs such as but not limited to MS Word, Excel, and other database management programs. Must have good organizational skills and adhere to all HIPPA guidelines regarding patient sensitive documents and communication. Must adhere to departmental policies and procedures, generally as related to Peri-operative services departments. Must have a fundamental knowledge of surgical procedures, medical terminology.
