The UM Tissue Bank at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine is currently seeking a Donor Services Representative. This position acts as a triage coordinator facilitating the receipt of referrals and screening of potential organ (Life Alliance Organ Recovery Agency-LAORA), tissue (University of Miami Tissue Bank-UMTB) and eye donors (Florida Lions Eye Bank –FLEB). Works within the Donor Services Center of UMTB and must work closely with hospitals,Medical Examiners Offices, Law Enforcement personnel, and outside referring agencies making ventilated patient/cardiac death referral calls to the Donor Services Center, to ensure immediate and timely receipt and transference of referrals for donor suitability determination.

Minimum requirements include: High School education is required. One year of relevant experience is required, preferably in emergency medical services, healthcare studies, biology or previous healthcare or call center /customer service experience. Knowledge of basic medical terminology and human anatomy a plus. Ability to use a computer for data entry and retrieval of information. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must possess skills lending to attention to detail and ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines. Excellent organization and time management skills, ability to multi-task, and to function independently or with a team. Excellent problem-solving and creative-thinking skills, and well-developed personal stress management skills. Engaged, customer-service oriented self-starter capable of working without direct supervision. Any appropriate combination of relevant education, certifications and/or work experience will be considered.
