The onshore Drilling Supervisor position will be responsible for the safe and efficient field implementation of drilling programs onshore domestically. Mentoring and guidance on operational techniques, decision making, contractor relationships and safety expectations will be at an accelerated pace. Successful candidates will work a rotational schedule and locations will vary depending on staffing needs and activity levels. The position will report to an onshore Drilling Superintendent/Manager in the Worldwide Drilling & Completions organization.
Directs contractor and vendor personnel engaged in critical well operations at the job site. Establishes and clearly communicates performance expectations. Monitors and analyzes the performance of equipment, personnel and well conditions. Ensures that contractors are fulfilling contractual requirements, governmental regulations, and Company Policy obligations.
Drives safety and environmental performance. Sets out clear expectations regarding safety and environmental practices and procedures and leads by example. Actively promotes and participates in the behavioral based safety program utilized by the contractor, tailgate talks, and JSAs. Routinely inspects the job site and methods employed to identify potential problems and areas for improvement.
Actively engages in operational planning efforts, material and services selection, contractor selection and pre-spud meetings.
Coordinates the ordering and efficient movement of equipment, materials and personnel to ensure operations proceed without interruption.
Reviews offset information, when available, and optimizes drilling programs by recommending appropriate wellbore hydraulics, mud weights, bit and casing seat selection, and avoidance of previously experienced problems.
Responsible for daily operational reports for internal and external communication, progress tracking and knowledge capture. Maintains records and files relating to operations, costs, contractor services and administrative matters in a manner that will assist the planning and operation of future similar projects.
Communicates with Project Engineer daily. Constructively challenges procedures and practices utilized. Recommends and implements changes to improve the efficiency of the operation. Reaches beyond assigned work scope to provide solutions for broad application within the organization.
Stays informed on applicable governmental laws and regulations, advises others of such as needed and ensures compliance at the job site.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required
Degree: Not required
Computer Proficiencies: Proficient in standard computer applications. Training will be supplied for job-specific requirements.
Certifications: None required initially. Required training & associated certifications, such as Well Control, will be provided.
Work Experience: Knowledge of field operations and experience with directing employees and/or contractors required. Prior drilling experience is preferred.
