Under the direction of the Administrative Supervisor, the Driver transports clientele staff, families, visitors, and materials to and from off-unit locations and performs general janitorial work in connection with the cleaning and maintenance of the Adolescent Units with primary focus on the kitchen and dining areas.
Operate program vehicle, following safe driving procedures at all times, to and from designated locations for the pickup and delivery of clientele and accompanying staff, families & visitors, and materials in accordance with program needs and transportation schedule
Work in conjunction with Administrative Supervisor and Nursing staff to coordinate appointments
Maintain schedule book for appointments
Keep vehicle supplied with fuel and responds to simple mechanical difficulties, i.e. changing flat tires, adding oil and/or water
Responsible for frequent monitoring of expired food items, cleanliness of cabinets, sink, countertops, stove, oven, and trash removal as needed
Make general repairs of a simple nature
Assist Lead Custodian in monitoring inventory control and may be required to order supplies
Transport people and/or supplies in program vehicle
Perform related duties as assigned
Valid Massachusetts driver’s license
Good interpersonal skills
Ability to follow oral and written instructions
Considerable knowledge of materials, equipment and methods commonly employed in housekeeping and cleaning operations
Ability to operate, care for and make general repairs of electric sweepers and other basic household cleaning equipment
Knowledge of the methods, procedures and principles of using floor cleaners safely
Working knowledge of the type, properties and quality of uses of cleaning supplies and equipment and their effect on the various types of construction and finishes
Tasks may require stooping, kneeling, lifting up to 50 lbs, ability to reach, climb stepladders, possess sufficient vision, hearing and the ability to safely and efficiently perform required tasks.
Must be able to perform all duties of position with reasonable accommodation if necessary.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Receives direct supervision from the Administrative Supervisor.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: None
ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Patients may become threatening and aggressive verbally and/or physically when on the unit and/or when being transported to and from off-unit appointments.
Hours are Monday through Friday noon to 4 pm
