EDI Analyst

Position Summary:
Works with Bluestem Brands, Inc. Trading Partners and users to manage EDI processes and data accuracy. Manages vendor relationships for compliance withIN established guidelines. Provides necessary user and vendor contact, training, testing and production monitoring to effectively implement and maintain all transaction sets with an economically viable population. Evaluates Bluestem Brands EDI practices, products, and procedures, and makes recommendations for new EDI applications, as well as procedural changes, based on industry knowledge. Monitor and support the dropship process for Bluestem Brands ensuring compliance with the regulatory guidelines.

Responsible for the analysis of data and management of information relating to EDI. Will serve in a project leadership role for special projects, involving analysis, implementation, and coordination in the supported areas. This position will be responsible for acquiring needed data, facilitating project meetings, developing tracking and reporting techniques for progress, etc. Accountable for systems design, testing, modification, and data integrity for new and existing systems for all supported areas.

Required Skills

Monitor and work EDI transaction sets on a daily basis ensuring accurate and timely communication of data.

Evaluate daily and weekly EDI transactions and take appropriate action to resolve errors or discrepancies within 24 hours.

Record and communicate EDI transaction errors and trading partner errors to the vendors.

Establish the proper follow-up with the Vendors to resolve all errors.

Investigate, troubleshoot, escalate and facilitate resolution of day-to-day issues

Provide proactive problem-solving expertise and communication to reduce and eliminate EDI problems and errors.

Responsible for the efficient processing of incoming and outgoing EDI messages including customer/supplier connections

Identify systems problems and communicate with customers to assess impact and arrive at a solution

Correct and retranslate any EDI documents that fail during translation

Establish, document, and maintain EDI procedures: including management of document repository, identification of errors and corrective action, reconciliation of EDI transactions through coordination of information with internal and external customers.

Conduct regular audits of EDI transactions to determine accuracy

Maintain an up-to-date and documented EDI Standards

Implement new trading partnerships for Bluestem Brands supported documents.

Establish contact with existing and potential trading partners. Provide mapping and any necessary training and direction as needed for Bluestem Brands, VAN providers and/or 3rd party suppliers.

Establish audits and metrics to monitor vendor performance. Develop programs to improve performance over time.

Provide and evaluate test data. Ensure that proper and thorough testing is completed prior to going into production.

Assist in planning, developing and implementing EDI policy/procedures, training, and direction. Setup and maintain test data, conduct unit testing and provide documentation

Make recommendations on technology, software and services as needed.

Support the communication and education of corporate policies and procedures to the vendors of EDI corporate policy.

Oversee the resolution of operational issues with trading partners.

Conduct periodic surveys of vendors or benchmark with competitors on company policies to ensure Bluestem Brands’s competitive advantage in the marketplace.

Maintain high level of technical expertise and industry knowledge by reading periodicals and maintaining active involvement in local and national user group meetings.

Maintain knowledge of Bluestem Brands, Inc. trading partners EDI status through ongoing communication, networking at national meetings evaluating surveys, etc.

Provide support on various projects as directed by senior management.

Required Experience

Competencies :
Strong knowledge of EDI, EFT, XML transaction processing, and data mapping - specifically the following transaction sets:

850, 855, 860, 865, 856, 810, 830, 846, 852, 832, 210, 997, etc

Required skills:
4 year degree in a related field or equivalent experience.

2+ years experience in the development and implementation of EDI.

Strong analytical skills to follow flow of EDI data, provide technical solutions to problems and recommends process improvements.

Ability to analyze and solve complicated systems issues and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees, managers and internal customers.

Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

Demonstrated ability with PC’s and PC software, including Microsoft Office Products or equivalent.

Ability to take direction from several individuals and be self-directed
