Our client, a global leader in the chemical industry, is seeking an EHS (Environmental, Health and Safety) Specialist.

The position provides technical support for safety and limited environmental compliance activities as needed through a shared services concept at the Seneca, SC Site.
Responsible for providing technical and regulatory expertise to maintain safety compliance. Responsible for facilitating the sharing of programs, procedures, tools, and successfully demonstrated practices within the EHS Community. Responsible for implementation and operation of EHS standardized processes and administration of related electronic systems. Responsible for developing effective working relationships with site management, employees, and the EHS community to drive continuous improvement in safety performance. Provide input in identifying and tracking appropriate KPI’s, and assessing site safety performance. Maintain records and prepare various safety and limited environmental reports for the Seneca Site. Principal Responsibilities:
Maintain and monitor safety compliance programs for the site while optimizing effectiveness and efficiency of the programs. Maintain written safety programs and procedures. Lead/Support Site Safe Work, Emergency Response, Contractor Safety, Incident Investigations and General Safety Procedures and/or Programs. Participate in capital project reviews consistent with the level of safety expertise needed. Prepare materials for shift safety meetings and facilitate staff EHS meetings. Provide input to Manager and interface with regulatory agencies and third parties, as needed, on compliance and enforcement issues. Active participation with the EHS Community

The individual needs to have detailed knowledge (theory and application) of the safety disciplines, or capability to develop the same. Basic knowledge of chemical manufacturing is a plus.

BS Degree in Engineering or Science is required. Safety regulatory knowledge and expertise are required. Environmental regulatory knowledge is a plus. Three or more years experience in implementing safety programs in a manufacturing arena is required. Basic computer skills (ex. Spreadsheets, word processing, database management) essential. Customer Focus, Team Leadership and Teamwork, Entrepreneurial Acting/Initiative, Results Orientation, Communication, and Work Management skills are essential. Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation is desired. Experience/training in emergency response and/or Process Hazards Analysis is a plus.
