PRIMARY PURPOSE

This is a GS-05 trainee position under the Target Promotion Program(TPP) and an assigned Formal Training Plan (FTP) with the full performance level of GS-09. The incumbent will receive formal, informal and/or on-the-job training in the specialty area and assignments will become progressively more difficult in nature. Assignments at this level are designated to provide knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform at the intermediate (GS-07) grade level. Non-competitive promotion to the next grade level is dependent upon: 1) satisfactory completion of the training requirements, 2) demonstrated ability to perform the duties at the next higher grade level, 3) fulfillment of all legal and regulatory requirements for promotion, and 4) recommendation for promotion by the supervisor.

This is a formalized training program and employees selected MAY BE entitled to retained pay.

IF APPLICABLE : Military service member's "Statement of Service" will be accepted up to 120 days prior to separation date IF a terminal leave form or DD214 cannot be provided. The "Statement of Service" must be signed by, or by direction of, the adjutant, personnel officer, or commander of your unit or higher headquarters and must indicate when your terminal leave will begin, your rank, dates of active duty service, the Type of Discharge and Character of Service (i.e. honorable).

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: At least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade (GS-04) or equivalent. Specialized experience must be experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. This experience must have been at a level of difficulty and complexity sufficient to demonstrate the ability to perform the duties of this position. It may have been gained in the private sector, volunteer service, military service, and/or government service, etc.

Federal Time-In-Grade (TIG) Requirement for General Schedule (GS) Positions: Applicants must have served at least 52 weeks at the GS-04 or higher grade (or equivalent in an alternate pay system) within the Federal Civil Service to be considered for referral. The purpose of TIG restrictions is to prevent excessively rapid promotions in competitive service GS positions and to protect competitive principles.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: · Knowledge of basic principles of Electronics Technician or related field.
· Skill in communicating factual and procedural information clearly, orally and in writing.
· Ability to learn basic techniques in Electronics Technician.
· Ability to analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data and recognize solutions
· Ability to plan and organize work and consult effectively with co-workers.
· Ability to apply lean, safety, security and health principles, practices and procedures and to understand and apply internal management procedures.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE : Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements.
