To assist in the development and implementation of emergency operations plans; and to perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibility.

Office environment; field environment; travel from site to site; occasional exposure to potentially hostile environments and emergency scenes; noise, dust, grease, smoke, fumes, gases.

Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting or standing for prolonged periods of time; operating motorized vehicles.

Skills / Requirements

The following education and/or experience are the minimum standards which provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this position:

Bachelors Degree or higher from an accredited college or university with major course work in emergency planning, public administration or a related field PLUS two (2) years experience in an emergency management organization responsible for disaster preparedness, emergency planning, and/or disaster preparedness required.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Microsoft Word, Excel, Access & PowerPoint skills required.

Extensive public contact customer service skills are also required.

Possession of a valid drivers license and an acceptable driving record required.

MISC. REQUIREMENTS: City of Fort Worth policy on acceptable driving record required.

Preference will be given to applicants with experience as a Strategic National Stockpile program planner, emergency management planner, public health bio-terrorism or medical disaster response planner.

Experience in planning, conducting and/or evaluating disaster exercises and drills are plus.

Completion of National Incident Management System (NIMS) courses; Independent Study courses: IS100, IS200, IS700, IS800 preferred.

Possession of or ability to obtain a technician level amateur radio license within six (6) months of employment desired.
